In a continuing effort to support local and national charities Jan Birss, owner and Managing Director of The Daily Maid successfully completed the 10 kilometre race for Sport Relief.

The event was held at Birkenhead Park on Sunday 25th March. Jan was joined by her daughter Sarah Birss and Laura Hartley, one of the longest serving members of the Daily Maid team.

Jan was keen to do some runs for Claire House, St Johns Hospice and Cancer Research UK, not to mention trying to improve her fitness.

Being new to running she joined a local racing club in November 2011, who have helped her get into shape, and Jan has been pounding the pavements ever since

The day finally came and we woke up to an unusually warm and sunny day for this time of year. Having spent the previous three days fuelling up with pasta galore and buckets of water Jan was ready to go.

With only a few short months of training all three girls managed to complete the course in respectable times and raised £200 for Sports Relief.
